If there is one place you are definitely allowed to have some fun in your home, it is the powder bathroom!

Before

This half bathroom had seen a few small updates over the years. A contemporary light fixture, a new faucet, a fresh coat of paint, enough to feel current for a time, but not enough to make a statement. Personality and impact were exactly what it was missing, and exactly what these homeowners were after.

Mood board and inspiration

The space was calling for colour and sophistication.

The goal was an upscale yet playful powder bath that still felt calm and grounded. The vision began with images of breathtaking spaces clad floor to ceiling in richly veined marble. While that was outside the budget, there were plenty of ways to capture the same spirit: the movement, the luxury, the sense that every surface had been considered.

The muted greens and organic movement of the Tierra Sol tile, paired with the clean lines of the Aloe Dal tile, struck a natural balance. Mixed metals elevated the fixtures , unlacquered brass, chosen for the beautiful patina it will develop over time, alongside the timeless appeal of polished nickel. The mirror, stretching all the way to the ceiling, reminiscent of a pool of water, while the sconces echo its droplet silhouette. A stunning concrete sink introduces contrast and weight, and warm wood ceiling planks tie everything together, amplifying the sconces' natural warmth.

Every element was chosen with intention, a cohesive, layered result worthy of a five-star spa.

During

Extensive design work and pre-planning were essential for this half-bathroom renovation. We knew from the start that we wanted to relocate both the light source and the plumbing, and with every surface being tiled or planked, there was simply no room for error.

For lighting, we chose wall sconces. A well-placed sconce always feels more elevated and intentional than a standard overhead vanity light, and it casts a far more flattering glow at face level.

For the plumbing, we went with a wall-hung sink to open up floor space and create a sense of airiness, paired with a wall-mounted faucet for a polished, upscale finish.

The project wasn't without its challenges, a few tricky fittings and fixtures had us problem-solving along the way, but our plumbers and electricians brought real creativity to the job and found excellent solutions every step of the way.
